SUMMARY: 

Individual will provide instruction in Native American arts and crafts and Native American language of the local area.  

  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following:  

  

  • Instruct students in the reading, writing and speaking of Native American Indian languages.  
  • Instruct students in Native American basket weaving, bead-making, pottery, and other crafts.  
  • Evaluates and counsels students on assignments.  
  • Instruct students in the culture of Native Americans (i.e. traditional songs, medicines, and ceremonies).  
  • Adheres to established school standards and Tribal policies.   

 EDUCATION:  

  

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Vocational supplemental training desired. 
  • BA preferred   

 EXPERIENCE:  

  

  • 1-2 years experience instructing students in the language, arts, crafts, and cultural traditions in Native American studies.  

 QUALIFICATIONS:  

  

  • Knowledge of Southern California Indian languages  
  • Ability to maintain proficient classroom management skills  
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with Administration, faculty, students, and Tribal personnel.  

REQUIRED 

  • A current California Drivers License or California Identification
