Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Shelter Housing Manager, the purpose of the position is to serve as the primary contact for Intake and Assessment and be responsible for the supervision of residents and the Emergency Shelter Facility during assigned work hours.

  • Work under the guidance of the Emergency Shelter Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide temporary intake for emergency shelter applications.
  • Record, update and comply with all admission and record keeping requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist residents with supplies for personal hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Ensure that the Emergency Shelter Facility and grounds are kept clean and sanitary.
  • Maintain inventory and supply list for Emergency Shelter Facility.
  • Ensure facility coverage during scheduled hours of work, notify Emergency Shelter Housing Manager when he/she is going to be absent or tardy.
  • Maintain daily logs; documenting any unusual occurrence, inordinate resident behavior, building safety checks, visitors and telephone calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to residents.
  • Inform the Emergency Shelter Housing Manager of all emergencies, problems, etc…that occur.
  • Provide written reports of all police incidents or in-house incidents that occur.
  • Assist with all required reports; monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Perform related duties as directed.
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by up to one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving administrative and supportive service and possess some computer experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Candidates shall be subject to a Caregiver background check/drug test and employment will be contingent on the results of said check/test.

Must be responsible, dependable and able to work evenings and weekends.

Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to perform basic level of data analysis including the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize and/or reference data, statutes and/or guidelines and/or group, rank, investigate and diagnose. Requires discretion in determining and referencing such to established standards to recognize interactive effects and relationships.


Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others, such as co-workers and/or the public, on how to apply procedures and standards to specific situations.


Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or provide simple but continuous adjustment on equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions.


Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a variety of reference data and information.


Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.


Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.


Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.

Must be able to work in a properly collegial relationship with co-workers. Must be able to interact with other departments within the Tribe in the spirit of compromise. Must be able to take on additional responsibilities in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork. Must be able to maintain an atmosphere of trust, fairness and respect and be mutually supportive with co-workers. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
