GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Director, the purpose of the position is to perform professional pharmacy work in a clinic environment.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise the preparation and filling of prescriptions.
  • Dispense medications to the patients and provide appropriate counseling.
  • Answer physician phone calls to the Pharmacy Department.
  • Provide guidance to the technicians with the inventory reports and orders, pharmaceutical supplies from various vendors, such as government suppliers and wholesale suppliers.
  • Provide day-to-day education of other pharmacy staff and pharmacy students assigned to the Pharmacy.
  • Monitors drug usage for patient compliance, interactions, adverse affects, therapeutic efficiency, dosage, etc…
  • Act as liaison for the Pharmacy in its interactions with other health professionals in the clinic.
  • Participates in literature research relative to clinic and client problems.
  • Checks and maintains a supply of drugs for the Treatment Room of the Clinic.
  • Assist in the compilation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual statistics for Management and other agencies. Assist with the set up and compilation of data for QI studies.
  • Provides input and may evaluate and provide supervision and direction to Pharmacy Technician, Clerks and Interns.
  • Supervises technicians with computer software including approval of drug alerts and appropriate medication.
  • Act as Pharmaceutical Chief in absence of Director.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to stay abreast of new developments and trends in pharmacy science and medicine.
  • Perform related duties as directed.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a pharmacy license in the State of Wisconsin.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent on the results of said test.

Knowledge of the organization and goals of a clinical pharmacy operation.

Ability to supervise, schedule, and train professional and paraprofessional pharmacy staff.

Ability to counsel clients concerning the use of drugs.

Ability to use tact and exercise confidentiality when dealing with patients.

Ability to interpret lab tests for disease and drug related therapy.

Ability to form good working relationships with a variety of professionals from various medical disciplines.

Knowledge of the Menominee Tribal Clinic’s organization, functions, work processes, procedures and policies.

Knowledge of diseases and drug related treatments unique to the Indian Community.

Knowledge of governmental procurement system.

Ability to adapt pharmacy operations to the needs of the Clinic and surrounding community.

Must not have been convicted of any drug, theft or felony charges.
